Energy Secretary Rick Perry posed barefoot in the desert, and was pictured holding a falcon and a sword in a series of photographs with Saudi Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources Khalid Al Falih during his visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Perry met with Al Falih to discuss cooperating on clean energy initiatives.
The two energy department heads signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a framework for joining efforts related to clean fossil fuels and carbon management, the Department of Energy said.
“Together through the development of clean energy technologies our two countries can lead the world in promoting economic growth and energy production in an environmentally responsible way,” Secretary Perry said in a press release.
Al Falih shared photos of the energy secretary on Twitter, saying that the partnership between the two countries “holds limitless potential.”
Perry was photographed barefoot in the desert during the trip. He posed holding a falcon in another photo, and is seen holding a sword in a third image.
Al Falih thanked Secretary Perry for his visit, and said that the two countries will exchange experts, engineers and scientists in order to achieve the objectives outlined in the memorandum.
