A Danvers, Mass., library is asking that local visitors stop paying fines for overdue books with Chuck E. Cheese tokens, according to Fox 25 Boston.
The Peabody Institute Library issued a not-so-subtle reminder to patrons on Facebook, citing “a surge” in attempts to pay with the arcade currency.
The facility stated that because the coins “are not legal tender,” they can’t accept them as payment.

Canadian coins will also not be accepted at the library, according to the Facebook post – so don’t even try it!
A bookkeeper at the library told the Salem News she counted three coins from the indoor family fun center before realizing what they were.
“Somehow, their coins turned up in the rest of the cast,” Sue Kontos said. “Everyone got a laugh out of it.”
