Aaron Carter’s sobriety is going well, but he’s still not giving up his pot.
The 30-year-old singer said he has cut prescription drugs out of his diet after going in and out of rehab.
“I’m very healthy, emotionally stable, and a lot more in tune with myself and my feelings. I’m blessed with my health. I’m a healthy man,” Carter told Entertainment Tonight.
“When I went through the treatment process, I told everybody there, ‘I’m gonna be smoking weed still.’ I like smoking weed. I find it a very Zen thing.”
Carter was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, possession of marijuana less than one ounce, and possession of drug-related objects in July.
Just days after the arrest in Habersham County, Ga., Carter said he uses marijuana to manage his anxiety, which he claims stems from watching the planes hit the World Trade Center in 2001 as he was on his way to meet Michael Jackson and Macaulay Culkin at an amusement park.
After checking himself into a wellness facility in September, Carter gained 45 pounds and disclosed an eating disorder that had caused seven ulcers.
Now, he’s off prescription medication, but still uses weed — not every day, he said, but frequently. He even estimated that he spends $10,000 a year on his habit.
“It’s for a good cause,” he told ET.
